Summary

Monitoring is the originating seed of By Proxy and one of the release's deepest tracks. It imagines a world in which human-built systems continue watching, recording, or maintaining relation beyond the immediate human frame that produced them. The song carries a quieter, more long-range tone than some of the other tracks, which is fitting given its role as the release's conceptual source.

History

This was the original seed from which the wider By Proxy project expanded. Earlier on it belonged to a more isolated AI-persistence idea, but later the full release grew around it, spreading outward into companionship, coercion, imagination, delegated presence, and benevolent control.

Meaning

Monitoring is about persistence through proxy systems. It asks what remains of human intention, care, or relation when the system continues after direct presence has receded — and whether continuity through machine oversight is a comfort, a haunting, or a new mode of being.
